class DiffField extends HTMLReadonlyField (View source)

This form field is both a field object in it's own right, and a decorator for another field type.

It is used to render differences between two data entries into the field type it wraps e.g. a TextField with the value "Old data" can be transformed with {\SilverStripe\VersionedAdmin\Forms\DiffTransformation} and then having setValue called again to load in "New data" - this field will then render the value "New Old data". Most useful in historic version comparisons {\SilverStripe\VersionedAdmin\Forms\SilverStripe\Versioned\Versioned}

static remove_extension(string $extension)

Remove an extension from a class.

Note: This will not remove extensions from parent classes, and must be called directly on the class assigned the extension.

Keep in mind that this won't revert any datamodel additions of the extension at runtime, unless its used before the schema building kicks in (in your _config.php). Doesn't remove the extension from any Object instances which are already created, but will have an effect on new extensions. Clears any previously created singletons through singleton() to avoid side-effects from stale extension information.

Currently returns an array, with an index resulting every time the function is called. Only adds returns if they're not NULL, to avoid bogus results from methods just defined on the parent extension. This is important for permission-checks through extend, as they use min() to determine if any of the returns is FALSE. As min() doesn't do type checking, an included NULL return would fail the permission checks.

The extension methods are defined during __construct()} in {@link defineMethods().

Caution: Don't use singleton()->hasExtension() as it will give you inconsistent results based on when the singleton was first accessed.

FormField castedCopy(mixed $classOrCopy)

Returns another instance of this field, but "cast" to a different class. The logic tries to retain all of the instance properties, and may be overloaded by subclasses to set additional ones.

Assumes the standard FormField parameter signature with its name as the only mandatory argument. Mainly geared towards creating _Readonly or _Disabled subclasses of the same type, or casting to a ReadonlyField.

Does not copy custom field templates, since they probably won't apply to the new instance.

$this setIncludeHiddenField(bool $includeHiddenField)

If true, a hidden field will be included in the HTML for the readonly field.

This can be useful if you need to pass the data through on the form submission, as long as it's okay than an attacker could change the data before it's submitted.

This is disabled by default as it can introduce security holes if the data is not allowed to be modified by the user.

This function is so named not in the manner of chronology, but rather in terms of succession.

That is to say the 'outdated' field may in fact be for a newer value in terms of chronology, but a diff shows what it takes to turn one value into another... and in this case the 'from' field value is succeeded by the 'to' value - it becomes 'outdated'.
